2006 Pompano Prediction - Feb 4, 2006

It's that time again! Based on the March 14th full moon and adding his life-long local experience as a rabid Pompano fan, Capt. Nathan Donahoe has announced his Official Pompano Prediction for 2006 to be March 17th. He's been right on every year so far! Let me know if you want to get in on the early bite - as luck would have it, Nathan is open St. Patricks day weekend, but he'll most likely be fishing with or without you. Jason & Chad and our other bay guides have open dates too.

Capt. Jr. told me yesterday that he's never seen a winter so mild, which bodes well for an early spring fishing season. He's already seeing the Bull Reds moving in along with the keeper sized. And I hope Capt. Charles Wilson doesn't mind me passing along that his offshore trip on February 1st was successful with a huge catch for this early - call me if you want the numbers! I was impressed, and yes he was within the Florida limits.

Tommy has decided to come home the end of March from south Florida instead of extending his stay in the Keys. That means that he will be available to fish here in Apalachicola from the 1st of April. I'm getting a good feeling about Spring 2006. We've had some anglers have to re-arrange their schedules, so the following dates are currently available in the lower Keys for Permit, Bonefish, Tarpon & Barracuda: February 7-9, 13-16, 21, 22, 24-26. Also, Tommy has March 9-11 open in either the Keys or the Everglades - Anglers choice!

I'm packing up my office this afternoon and leaving at O-Dark-Thirty Sunday morning to join Tommy on Cudjoe Key. Should be back in email contact by Monday afternoon. If you need to contact me by telephone, either call our regular number and leave a message or dial my cell phone.

Real Estate Reminder - Jr's 1-acre lots are still available in Eastpoint - just minutes from St. George Island and Apalachicola. If I didn't already have a house (and my pool) I'd move there. I love sitting out by the pond and Jr & Rhonda would make the best neighbors. Absentee owners wouldn't have to worry with Jr. on site. (Tommy & Kathy are also Realtors with Suncoast Realty - SGI 800-341-2021)
