Just a little bit of tarpon - Feb 18, 2005

If this photo elicits a physiological reaction (dry mouth, drooling, heart going pitty-pat) then either it's been too long since you last cast at a tarpon or you just remembered that you haven't booked your fishing trip yet this summer. Maybe you can just take a short fishing break in your mind... feel the fish, be the fish. Jason & Nathan both have May, June and July dates open and I'm looking forward to booking Capt. Anthony Stone again this year. Capt. Adam Hudson has just signed on with us for flats/fly fishing this summer also. Feel the need to brush up on your fly casting? Capt. Gary Taylor and his wife Wanda are FFF Master Certified Casting Instructors and offer private instruction in the Port St. Joe area. Check out their website www.Taylor-Taylor.com. Gary will also be guiding a few days a week all this summer - if you're staying in Destin or Panama City let me know and I'll hook you up.

I dropped by the new and improved Carrabelle Palms RV Park & Convenience Store on Tuesday. I've known owner Paul Osterbye for years but never had the pleasure of meeting his lovely wife Laurel. If you're an RV-er or even if you're not (they have camp models on the way) the newly expanded park features a gorgeous pool, a huge clubhouse, brand new fish cleaning table and as Paul says "The Coldest Beer in Carrabelle Beach". www.carrabellepalmsrvpark.com.

I passed my test, so I'm out the door first thing in the AM headed for the Keys for 2 weeks. I'll be checking email and voice mail daily if you have questions about fishing in Apalachicola, which has been consistently good for February by the way, or dates for snook fishing in the Everglades - Tommy has a 3 day trip open the week before Easter. Have a pleasant Presidents Day weekend and hope you can make it to St. George Island the first weekend in March for Chili Cook-off.
