Giving Thanks for Redfish - Nov 26, 2003
Capt. Chad and Patrick David (aka Tarpon Cowboy?) from Birmingham, AL did some Redfishing together November 14th. Additional photos of Trent Taylor's 25 lb Red and Allen McCall are posted to the photo gallery.
November has been especially kind to us until 2 days ago when the bottom dropped out of the thermometer, finally making it seem like fall. The fish are biting though, from Stripers & Hybrids up the river to Trout in the bay and Reds around the barrier islands. Sheepshead and Flounder should be jumping in the boat. Offshore they're hauling in the Grouper and Kingfish are fun on light tackle.
If my monitoring of the VHF radio today proves correct, the yearly migration of houseboats moving up the river for their owners to do a little hunting over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend has begun in earnest. This area truly is an outdoorsman's paradise. If the weather is not right for fishing or diving then there's always hunting for ducks, squirrels, deer, doves, hogs, etc. (Several of our fishing guides also double as hunting guides.) Some days there's so many choices, Tommy doesn't know which way to go.
If you're planning to be in the area, Christmas week trips are available.
Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving.
