Halloween & Florida Seafood Festival - Oct 30, 2003

This weekend marks the 40th annual Florida Seafood Festival right here in Apalachicola. The forecast for the festivities is warm, sunny & breezy and the forecast for fishing is Redfish! Come for both or either!

The beginning of this week John Mears and Tommy bested their own combined personal redfish catch record and Chris got into the big bull reds the same day. Didn't see any other boats out that day though. By the way, Tommy & Chris are both thrilled with their new Hells Bay Marquesa's. Capt. Scott Fain reported that at one time yesterday he did a visual pan of the area he was fishing and saw no less than 10 tailing redfish. At the same time. Want to come fishing?

Tommy, Chris & Nathan leave next Wednesday for a Canadian hunting trip which means Jason & Scott will be holding down the Flats-fishing fort. Fishing isn't over just because Tommy is out of town. Bay guides have really been pleased with the conditions the past couple weeks. They are seeing healthy numbers of fish and a healthy bait supply. The Spanish Mackerel are sticking around - always fun to catch. Capt. Leon Teat took the Mark Allen group offshore on Saturday, showing them a fantastic time and proving it doesn't have to be slick calm to reel in the big fish.

Happy Halloween!!
