Early Summer - Jun 9, 2003

When satisfied clients take the time to expound on their fishing experience I like to let them tell it in their own words. Here's what Bryan Rudisill had to say about his May 28th trip with Capt. Jason Rucker.

"Well, Jason has done it again! In baseball language it's called "slugging percentage" and has to do with how many extra base hits a batter achieves! I have 5 fishing days with Jason and three lifetime memories to show for it! Pretty good performance I would say!! I lucked out and picked the one day of the week last week that one could tarpon fish. Jason had a hunch, put me on the shot, and then I screwed up, held tight and popped off the biggest fish of my life. I will always have nightmares about that one. "If only I had..."! We had a great time, caught a mess of blue fish, ladyfish and two cobias, all of which were on top. You run a tight ship and you got a great group of guides. I'd like to fish with them all! Someday we'll have to to see if I can talk you out of a hat! Hope to see you in July!"

Screwy weather patterns have guides all over the area scratching their heads and scouting for new areas to fish. This past weekend may have looked miserable to those of us who didn't have a guided trip booked, but everyone who suited up & fished through the rain & the wind had the catch to prove differently. As Bill Mudd said to Tommy early Saturday morning "What am I going to do - sit in a motel room? We're going fishing!" So they did and the tailing redfish they cast at were well worth it. Capt. Chad's boat won the big fish pot from a 2-day group trip on Friday and Capt. Peter Buzier's guys caught the big fish on Saturday. Today we have finally felt the real heat of summer, as hot and sticky as you could ask for. I like to say it's Tarpony outside. Looks like it's going to be a great summer - I can't wait!
