Back in Town! - Apr 14, 2003

Marsha & Jeff Baker from Birmingham, AL scored this double hook-up the first cast this past Saturday morning, day two of their 3 day "Marsha's Trip" with Capt. Tommy Robinson. Tommy claims that Marsha is the "Real" angler in the family (sorry Jeff!) as she casts non-stop and fishes as hard and as long as Tommy will keep her, I mean them, out on the water. Plus she's a really good fisher-person. For the record these redfish are in the 20 lb vicinity. They also caught a slew of Trout, several Flounder and got heavily into the Pompano on Sunday. Jeff told me this morning that their Easter dinner was going to be a fish fry!

So that's what's been happening here. The spat of cold weather we experienced last week is just a memory today - Tommy called the weather this morning "A $2,000 day". We're all hoping this is finally the actual beginning of our spring and that summer is not far off. At the risk of jinxing the fishing, we sure could use some beach weather! Anyway, the fishing is certainly picking up. Chris & Tommy both have some days available the next couple weeks, as do the rest of our Flats & Bay guides. Additional photos from the Everglades & Keys are getting added to the website and being mailed as soon as I send this email. Any photos of local fish would be appreciated.

Lunch making tip: Daphne from the Piggly Wiggly reminded me Saturday that they make great Deli sandwiches with Boars Head meat & cheese and have them wrapped up fresh every morning when they open at 6:00am. The best part is they're only $2.99. Hope everybody has a Happy Easter!
