Tarpon Report - Jul 10, 2002
You won't see too many photos of boated Tarpon on our website these days, but Ed & Terri Smith of Destin were so proud of their catch on July 1st that they convinced Capt. Nathan Donahoe to haul this one up for the photo opportunity. (YES we are catching tarpon as usual but if they are brought in to the boat, they normally get released in the water) Thus far, the season has been pretty darn good, challenges with weather & holiday boat ramp traffic are all in a days work - just ask the Morrow's about their love/hate relationship with the first week in July! If you can break loose in August, we can probably hook you up.
Fishing in the Bay and Offshore has been particularly productive as well the past few weeks - lots of nice tripletail, spanish mackerel, reds & trout in the bay, grouper, snapper & triggerfish offshore. We're always proud of the job our local guides do for our anglers but when Roni Whitten from Port Charlotte couldn't even wait to get home to tell me that her Offshore trip on July 3rd was "Absolutely Wonderful, couldn't have been more Perfect, so relaxing" (and they caught plenty of fish) well, I couldn't have been happier for her.
And, for the most important news, Congratulations Capt. Chris & Jennifer Robinson on the birth of Alyssa Brooke, born 6/27/02. She's a beauty!
Hope you're enjoying your summer so far - if not, you must not have gone fishing yet!
