Pre-Thanksgiving Report - Nov 20, 2001

Scott Leysath (Folsom, CA) hauled in this 31 pound bull Red on November 11 while Bay fishing with Capt. Chad Zingarelli, Henry Lowe & his son Edward and Harold Causey (Macon, GA). You may already be familiar with Scott "The Sporting Chef" and some of his outstanding wildlife recipes. Check out his website www.TheSportingChef.com. You can view more of their fishing success in our photo gallery. Capt. Chad’s group this past Friday went instead for the Speckled Trout and caught at least 80. (FYI - all fish over FL limits are released) Capt. Junior Holland’s anglers on Sunday were bringing them in 2 at a time.

Tommy, Chris & Jason fished Veteran’s day weekend with "The Judge’s" on their annual outing. These influential decision makers hit pay dirt on the Redfish flats (they caught lots & lots of fish) and I heard they had a good time offshore with their host, Mike Doyle where the Gulf was like a big flat lake.

Have you noticed the great weather we have been having? Most of the days the past two months have been calm, mild & dry and conducive to really good Trout & Redfishing (with the exception of a couple of off days). Spin fishing with gold spoons from a flats skiff has been best for the Reds while anglers on Bay boats have been reeling in the Speckled & White Trout. We’ll probably end up paying for our good fortune in the long run, but hopefully it will hold off until it is too cold to want to be on the water. Tommy & Chris are in the woods & in New Mexico for the next 2 weeks, but Jason, Nathan, Scott, Chad, Adam & Junior are rigged up & ready to go!

I went to Tampa over the weekend to attend the Shallow Water Fishing Expo. The weather there seemed to entice many more people out on the water to fish than to spend their time inside talking about it (who could blame them) but there was a pretty good turnout never the less, especially at the Florida Guide Assn. booth. My general impression is that people who fish are pretty nice! And the new Hell's Bay boats are pretty awesome!
