Tom McArdle & Randy Woodhead - Jun 19, 2001

"Wanted to thank you guys for a wonderful trip last week. My buddy Tom McArdle will be sending on some pix from our trip with Chris. I guess he told you that we tore 'em up (although most had Boga-phobia, we boated 77 over two days not including the dozen or so that Chris himself caught). We caught them on everything from jigged shrimp to topwater - eventually resulting in Top Dog Arm and a reversion to jigs. A fine christening for the new Hell's Bay skiff. And, although Chris was reluctant to promise us 77 fish on the next trip, we'll definitely be back down. Randy Woodhead"

After the storm…

Everything is as it should be. We did have to cancel a couple of days early last week due to unfishable windy & rainy conditions, however since then it hasn’t affected the fishing negatively at all. I have to admit that the rain was welcome here, not only to save our grass but the fresh water helps to keep our estuary healthy (and the tarpon happy). Luckily our area didn’t get flooded like some of our neighbors on the Gulf Coast. Be sure to check out the waterspout photo on the website!

Tommy went out early last Wednesday morning to do some scouting - after the rain let up mid morning he caught 2 Tarpon on fly by himself, something he couldn’t remember doing in recent history. Our anglers have had a pretty good showing this past week tarpon-wise, jumping a couple a day and usually catching at least one. Better eat your wheaties if you are booked to fish this summer, as early departures are the rule. And, August trips are still available!

Bayfishing trips have been especially successful. Capt.’s. Chad, Adam & Junior have been fishing nearly every day and according to the glowing reports from people like Pat Pennington they are doing a fine job of it. Recent catches include Trout, Redfish, Tripletail, Sharks, etc. If you do get a chance to fish with our Bay guides out of Scipio Creek Marina, be sure to stop in at “Papa Joe’s Oyster Bar” right there on the water.
