May Fishing - May 8, 2001
Yesterday Capt. Chad’s anglers caught “some of everything there was to catch” in spite of the 20 kt. wind. The wind has been a deciding factor the past couple of weeks for Fly-fishing trips but not so much as to cause any cancellations. Tommy & Chris have had plenty of success catching Redfish 6-10 lbs (up to 10 a day) and Seatrout, Spanish Mackerel & fun with Ladyfish. Chris has had Cobia on board and Jason & Nathan have been catching Jack Crevalle. No official Robinson angler hook-ups yet on Tarpon but we have been hearing rumors that a few fish have started sneaking in. (Check your pulse!) Hopefully any day now! Fishing the flats in May, June & July is pretty much of a sure thing here - so much so that with the exception of a few days, our regular Flats guides are heavily booked. Please call me if you are still thinking of Tarpon on fly. The good news is that we have plenty of Bay guides rigged up & ready to take you fishing for the same species as on the flats, you just go about the catching part a little bit differently. Light tackle with bait or shrimp (and sometimes artificial lures) can even be more successful numbers-wise. Heck, if you bring your own rod & flys, Chad has experience guiding flyfishermen off his boat. And if shallow water isn’t exactly your thing, we can arrange your Offshore trips as well. Sorry if that sounded like a commercial. Atlanta area readers might be interested to learn that Anchor Realty of St. George Island is introducing a new service - a direct flight from Atlanta to Apalachicola aboard a Beechjet 400A beginning May 24th. Seats 8 comfortably. Flights leaving Thursday through Monday. Pick up & delivery service is included in the $500/one way flight that leaves from Peachtree/Dekalb.
